Meet The Follow-On Mission Board of Directors
Scott Kinder
Scott founded DOL Coaching in a desire to continue his service to others after decades of service in the federal government, military service, and civilian employ. He’s a Special Forces combat veteran (18C MOS), former civil servant and executive with roles across a multitude of industries (from Wall Street to internet startups to consulting).
Scott is passionate about helping those around him grow and prosper. He desires to help people become the best version of themselves possible.
Alicia Hansen
Alicia is married to John and is the proud mother of two young-adult sons, Jacob and George. She spends her days volunteering and ensuring everything runs smoothly at home. Alicia holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Prior to the birth of her second son, she spent nine years at Procter & Gamble, where she gained experience in several fields. Among her varied responsibilities, she most enjoyed problem-solving and helping teams reach effective solutions.
Alicia’s passion for auto racing began when her sons, inspired by the Disney Cars movie, wanted to see real race cars in action. While her sons’ enthusiasm eventually waned, her own interest only grew stronger. She is enthusiastic about serving on The Follow-On Mission Team as Vice Chair, Vice President, and Secretary.
Keith "AJ" Jackson
AJ is a career U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier, or more commonly known as a “Green Beret”. He discovered the therapeutic benefits of endurance road racing after losing the ability to compete in motorcycle and bicycle racing due to work related injuries.
“After losing the ability to ride, I quickly found myself going down the dark spiral of PTSD, anxiety and major depressive disorder. My behavioral health providers insisted I find another outlet. Shortly after their urging, I discovered Endurance Road Racing, more specifically the ChampCar Endurance Series. The turn-around was truly a miracle.”
AJ founded The Follow-On Mission to share his story and provide adrenaline therapy to his brothers and sisters suffering as he once was. AJ holds undergraduate degrees from Columbia College and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University.
Rebecca Jackson
Rebecca has a heart for our military, first responders and their families. She has witnessed the toll of combat on her soldier, walked beside him through injuries and trauma recovery, and is passionate about helping others navigate the same. Adrenaline Therapy through Endurance Motorsports has played a significant role in her husband's healing journey, and Rebecca is honored to be a part of this mission.
As a military spouse, Rebecca has a diverse professional background. Her experience spans the automotive industry, personal training, and civilian work for the Department of Defense. She currently serves as the Senior Budget Analyst for Missouri’s Department of Economic Development and holds a BSBA from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Drew D. Mewes
Drew has always been passionate about performance and motorsports, even prior to his military service. After experiencing the loss of several battle buddies—his brothers and sisters in arms—to suicide, he made it his personal mission to seek out outlets not typically offered by mainstream resources. This journey led him to obtain a racing
license and become a participant with The Follow-On Mission (TFM). He also holds a degree in automotive technology and spent nearly a decade working as a flat rate mechanic while transitioning out of the National Guard and attending school at night. Building and maintaining race cars has become therapeutic for him, and he embraces every opportunity to learn and improve his skills.
Drew’s military career and upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of self-accountability, motivating him to contribute toward addressing the unseen wounds of war and combat. He was honored to serve and was medically retired as a corporal after six years of service, including a lengthy deployment to the Mosul area of
northern Iraq from 2007 to 2009, where he primarily served with forward security and the command element.
Today, Drew feels blessed to have the time to help others while also being a devoted
father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and a soldier for life.
Jerry M. Jenkins

DRIVER & PARTNER STORIES
"As a veteran, I’ve struggled with depression for years and in 2022 I reached my lowest point; attempting to take my own life. I tried traditional therapy, but nothing ever truly made me feel whole again—until I discovered adrenaline therapy.
Many veterans, myself included, suffer from isolation, feeling disconnected from the world around us. The Follow-On Mission gave me more than just an outlet; it gave me a team, a community, and a renewed sense of purpose. Pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, experiencing that rush, and knowing I wasn’t alone helped me rebuild my mental strength in a way nothing else had.
This mission isn’t just about adrenaline—it’s about healing, camaraderie, and proving to ourselves that we are still capable of great things. Thanks to The Follow-On Mission, I’ve found a way forward, and I know I’m not alone in this journey."

“I’ve witnessed with my own eyes the impact The Follow-On Mission has to the veterans and first responders they serve. They not only help alleviate PTSD symptoms and improve their overall quality of life, they give them something even more beneficial: the feeling of team. The amazing people the Follow-On Mission serves are clearly happier and better prepared to renew the life they once had, with less trauma.
This is personal for me as well. Having been a part of the team at The Follow-On Mission (as a combat Special Forces veteran) has helped me in more ways than I have words to describe.
They are wholly dedicated to their mission and no one does it as well as they.”

“After 20 years of military service, transitioning to civilian life came with its challenges, and in early 2024, personal hardships made it even tougher. During that difficult time, The Follow-On Mission gave me the chance to drive their race car—a powerful reminder that new missions and opportunities still lie ahead. I’m grateful to the team for the opportunity and support. It was exactly what I needed.”

“The Follow-On Mission has changed the trajectory of my life. It’s not only driving but all aspects of the race team and a track environment that is very relaxing. My hyper-vigilance is used in a positive way.
Going three wide into turn four at Joliet will make you trust your equipment and focus on nothing more than that moment of sheer fun.”
~Drew Mewes

“The Follow-On Mission is a critical component to the healing of veterans. While in the military, servicemembers pride themselves in: 1) Attention to detail; 2) Courage; and 3) Commitment. However, not many post-military careers provide the platform for all three.
The TFM program, through the team-centric racing program, does all of that. The steps of preparation, repairs, planning, teamwork, seamless driver changes, race completion, and post-race activities are similar to military missions.
When I drove with the TFM team, I was inspired by their commitment to healing veterans. While I was driving, I did not worry about anything other than the next turn and the other cars around me. For once, I was "present." With that "presence" came a lot of inner peace and self-worth.
Personally, the TFM mission helped me realize a childhood dream of racing. My TFM experience helped close the loop in my life that I thought was out of reach. With TFM's model of healing through adrenaline therapy, I found that my "racing thoughts" (worry, fear, and feelings of lack of self-worth) were replaced with the gift of ‘presence’, ‘awareness’, and ‘gratefulness’.”

"When The Follow-on Mission says that they provide adrenaline therapy, they mean it! Everything about the experience was well organized; I didn't have to worry about anything. I literally got to jump in a beautiful car and go fast!"
~J. Wickert, USMC
"The Follow-on Mission is a non-profit for vets, run by vets and their families that understand first-hand the sacrifices of veterans and first responders. Being around this group was like being back in the military. We traded stories like we had known each other for years!"
~ JW, USMC
"If driving isn't your thing, but you want to support an organization that actually gives back to vets; the Follow-on Mission is the perfect organization! They put me in the driver seat of their beautiful V8 powered Chevy Malibu named Athena and never hesitated! They let me drive that car full throttle! What a rush to feel the power of that V8 and the camaraderie off the track felt like I was back in the military. It was nice to have that feeling of brotherhood again!"
~ Jonathan W., USMC
"I had an incredible time with The Follow-On Mission while driving in not only my first wheel to wheel endurance race, but also in the rain at Road America! It was super nerve wracking, but AJ, Reb, Alicia, and the entire team made me feel at home to push to the edge of my comfort zone.
I have yet to find a hobby like this in skydiving, SCUBA, or even HPDEs. The ability to have my adrenaline pumping while going wheel to wheel as an individual competitor, then right to the pits to support a teammate was a surreal experience.
I am excited for future opportunities to race Athena. Thanks team!"
